Nancy Pelosi picks Mary Jo Kilroy for new Ohio seat
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi is taking sides in the crowded Democratic primary for Ohio’s newly-drawn 3rd district.
Pelosi has contributed $4,000 to former Rep. Mary Jo Kilroy - $2,000 from her personal campaign account, and another $2,000 from PAC to the Future, her political action committee – according to new campaign finance filings made public Thursday. Both donations were made on Feb. 9.
Kilroy, a liberal favorite who lost her seat in 2010, is one of a handful of candidates running in the March 6 primary for the Columbus-area seat, which favors Democrats.
Kilroy also received donations from Minnesota Rep. Keith Ellison and former North Dakota Rep. Earl Pomeroy. - Politico.com
Kilroy touts benefits of federal stimulus spending
Kilroy recalled that the "economy was in a shambles and we were hemorrhaging jobs" when the recovery act became effective. She credited the "bold and swift action" taken by Obama and supporters of the act for helping "to keep teachers in the classroom, to put police officers on the street and to help rebuild our crumbling infrastructure." Across the country, Kilroy said, the stimulus funding created or saved three million jobs "and gave the economy the boost it so desperately needed to stave off another great depression." - Columbus Dispatch Read full article>>

Pelosi all but endorses Kilroy
Of the Democratic candidates for the House in 2012, few have a claim on Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi's heart more than 10 former Democratic representatives who were defeated in 2008 or 2010, and are back in the ring, hoping to win back their old seats this year. "We are very excited they are running again. They have the fire in their belly that this is the right thing to do for their country," Pelosi told National Journal. "I want them to win because of the quality of leadership they would bring here and, of course, to help us make a majority." The 10 are Carol Shea-Porter of New Hampshire, Ann Kirkpatrick of Arizona, Alan Grayson of Florida, Bill Foster of Illinois, Dina Titus of Nevada, Dan Maffei of New York, Mary Jo Kilroy and Charlie Wilson of Ohio and Nick Lampson and Ciro Rodriguez of Texas. They will get, Pelosi promises, all the help they need from national Democrats.
